Serverless Postgres in your own cloud
Branch databases in seconds, scale idle ones to zero and restore to any second, all inside your own Kubernetes cluster and cloud account.
Fast where it counts
Durable commit
Resume from pause
Branch to first write
Wake from zero
Medians from our September 2026 test runs on Linux test machines and a local Kubernetes cluster, in the default object storage mode, not on a production cloud. Conditions for each number are on the product page.
A branch for every change
Every pull request, preview and agent gets its own writable copy of your data, and copies share storage.
- Ready in about 130 ms, data included
- Branch from now or any past second
- Dedicated-disk projects copy the data instead
Idle databases cost nothing
A quiet database stops its compute, and the next connection wakes it through the same address.
- Wakes in under 2 s from zero
- Or in about 9 ms when kept paused in memory
- Your app never changes its connection string
Undo any mistake
Every change is kept, so you can branch at the second before something went wrong.
- Any second in your retention window, 7 days by default
- No snapshots to find
- No new cluster to build
Your data stays in your account
SkelaDB runs in your VPC and you pay your cloud provider for what it uses. We ship the software, you keep the data.
- Your provider's prices, with no markup
- Your keys, your IAM, your region
- Infrastructure spend lands on your own cloud bill
Built for AI agents
Give each agent task its own branch, let it run SQL, then throw the branch away.
- MCP server and CLI as downloadable binaries
- Keys scoped to one project
- Retry management commands with the same idempotency key and payload
skela branch create --name agent-7f3a \ --parent $MAIN --idempotency-key task-7f3a { "operation_id": "3f1c…", "state": "queued" } skela database query $DB \ --sql 'select count(*) from events' { "rows": [[ 48213 ]] }

One console for all of it
Branches, SQL, restore and monitoring in one place, running inside your network.

Restore
Pick any second in the last 7 days. SkelaDB opens it as a new branch; nothing is overwritten.
Works with your tools
It is PostgreSQL 18 with four small storage patches, so any driver, ORM or client that speaks Postgres connects.
Common questions
Serverless Postgres that you install in your own cloud account. Databases branch in seconds, stop when idle and restore to any second of their history.
In your own Kubernetes cluster and cloud account. Compute runs in your cluster and history is kept in your own object storage bucket. Nothing passes through SkelaDB.
Yes. SkelaDB runs PostgreSQL 18 with four small patches that make storage pluggable, plus a storage extension. Drivers, ORMs, contrib extensions, pgvector and the wire protocol work unchanged; other extensions, such as PostGIS, are not included.
Agents need many short-lived, isolated databases. SkelaDB gives each task its own branch of real data, stops it when the task ends, and offers an MCP server and CLI as downloadable binaries with scoped keys.
Any Kubernetes 1.29 or later with cert-manager and an S3, Google Cloud Storage or Azure Blob bucket. Install profiles for Amazon EKS, Google GKE and Azure AKS are in preview: we have tested on local Kubernetes and emulated AWS, not yet on those managed services.
